Practical Nurse
Why Take The Step To PN or Practical Nursing?
Are you a CNA who is ready to take the next step in your nursing career? Or maybe you are a college student debating between taking a practical nursing course at your school or a more fast-paced course with a nursing academy. Whatever your situation we have your path to receiving your PN pin in just one face-paced year of studying and clinicals.

Why advance to an PN?

-
Higher pay for the job you currently do. If you are already working at a facility that hires PNs and CNAs alike you will likely find that you get a pay increase that is significant for the higher qualifications. Many healthcare facilities even have programs where they will pay for your advancement in education if you agree to work for them for a determined time afterward. Be sure to ask your boss as you consider your options.
-
Increased job opportunities for higher pay. You will find not only are you paid more but you find even more jobs around Florida as an PN than as a CNA. A CNA has no shortage of job opportunities but an PN has even more. State of Florida nursing jobs start at PN as minimum qualifications so the world of government benefits can open up after the course.
-
Increase in knowledge. If you enjoy working in the healthcare setting as a CNA but want to offer even more to your patients then you should know that the path to PN takes a year at the fast pace and you will learn so much while you attend classes and clinicals that will help you be the best nurse possible for all those you care for.
-
Fast Pace For Fast Rewards. A twelve-month program may seem long but it is face-paced to become an PN and receive better job opportunities and increased pay. We make the most of your time with us because we know your time is valuable.
The Practical Nursing program at Brevard Nursing Academy starts with an entrance exam to make sure that you can handle the course before you invest your time or money. After you pass the entrance exam with 70% or greater you will have to fill out a school application and an enrollment contract. You must have a valid state ID, pass a level two background check, and have your CPR certification. If you are already working as a CNA you likely already have all of these things or can get them easily.

To begin the course you must have paid your tuition or arranged a payment plan with us with the first payment already completed. We are a fast-paced in-demand program that helps many healthcare professionals take the next step upwards in their careers. We will help you every step of the way, but we also expect personal responsibility and an understanding that it is yours to lose if you do not keep up or if you shirk your duties in class or those very important clinicals. You will have a great time and learn a ton while making friends with similar goals but it is not easy, doable but not easy. The best things in life are worth the effort.

The final stage before employment as an PN is successfully passing the State Board of Nursing exam for Practical Nurses NCLEX-PN to actually become a Practical Nurse (PN). This test is state-mandated and will not be taken at our academy.

Once you pass the NCLEX-PN you will be able to work for higher wages at more locations and move on to advanced rolls. We are excited to take part in this journey with you and all of our students across the state. If you have any questions contact us online or by phone, we will be happy to help you decide if this path is the right one for you and help you as you walk the path to success in the program over the next 12 months. Call today to find out when our next class starts, or ask about our other healthcare careers programs.
